MAYTE MEDINA WAS CROWNED MISS GLOBAL TEEN 2010
Miss Dominican Republic Mayte Brito Medina made history by being the first ever teenager crowned Miss Global Teen. In the pageant which took place on July 3, at the Rubens Gil de Camilo Convention Center, in Campo Grande, Brazil, the Dominican stunner edged out other 22 beauties, including Misses Egypt, Tara Emad (1st runner-up), Canada, Chelsae Durocher (2nd runner-up), Belgium, Kathleen Luyts, (3rd runner-up), Venezuela, Rossana Medina (4th runner-up), and Portugal, Mariana dos Santos, (5th runner-up).
The show started with an opening number as a tribute to the World Cup. Then all delegates introduced themselves in the parade of nations carrying their countries’ flags. After that, the 14 semi-finalists were announced (due to a tie, one more delegate than the expected advanced to the next round of competition).
They were: United States, Venezuela, Guatemala, Peru, Poland, Dominican Republic, South Africa, Canada, Belgium, Egypt, Colombia, Portugal, Philippines and Netherlands.
The semi-finalists competed in swimsuits designed by Alexander Gonzales, and wearing gowns chosen by themselves. The scores they received from the judges determined the 6 finalists, who came from Egypt, Belgium, Portugal, Dominican Republic, Venezuela and Canada.
From these 6 lucky beauties, judges picked 19-year-old Mayte Brito Medina. “I still cannot believe it. I am very excited and proud, my country will go wild!”, she said with a radiant smile on her face.
The Mayor of Campo Grande, Nelson Trad, spoke to the public and said that the city was honored to welcome this important event, and wished the best of luck to all representatives.
In this first edition of Miss Global Teen, the 23 international beauties visited the stunning sights of Bonito, and enjoyed the hospitality of Campo Grande.
Miss Global Teen 2010 won a cash prize of USD 5.000, jewelry, and a replica of the pageant’s official crown, designed by Tiago Seixas. She was crowned by Isabella Zaupa, Miss Mato Grosso do Sul/World 2010.
Antônio Rodrigues was responsible for the choreography, Vivi Yoshii did the make up, and Lilian Cristine was the hair stylist.

The lovely Mayte Medina was crowned Miss Global Teen 2010 last night in Campo Grande, Brazil. She received the crown from Isabella Zaupa, the current Miss Mato Grosso do Sul/World. Finalists came from Egypt, Canada, Belgium, Venezuela and Portugal.

PRELIMINARY EVENTS OF MISS GLOBAL TEEN 2010
Miss Global Teen preliminary gown, swimsuit and talent competitions took place last night at the Rubens Gil de Camilo’s Convention Center, in Campo Grande. The final event, hosted by Karine Barros and Tatá Marques, will take place tonight.
Yesterday’s gown and swimsuit competitions, in addition to the preliminary interview, will determine 12 of the 13 semifinalists. The winner of the Talent Competition will complete the group.
