Miss Universe 2010, the 59th edition of the pageant, will be held at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA on August 23, 2010. For the third time, Las Vegas take over the opportunity to hosts the pageant since 1996. Miss Universe 2009, Stefanía Fernández from Venezuela, will crown her successor at the end of this event. More than 80 countries and territories will compete for the title and the pageant will broadcast live on NBC and Telemundo.

After the Miss USA 2010 controversy where the contestants posed in provocative poses wearing lingerie -to the dismay of lots of pageant conservatives-, the Miss Universe pageant could not stay behind in the search of publicity and scandal, which seems to be their goal these days. The theme this year? Body Paint, while this year’s international delegates go… Topless!
