MISS NETHERLANDS WORLD 2010 - Désiree Van den Berg

BIOGRAPHY:

Desiree Van den Berg was crowned Miss Nederland 2010 or Miss Netherlands 2010 at the Finale held yesterday at the Theatre De Efteling. Desiree is the 23 year old beauty from Santpoortis and stands 1.76m tall. She will represent Netherlands both in Miss World 2010 in China later this year and Miss Universe 2010 in Las Vegas this August.

She was named “Desiree” by her parents because of their ‘desire’ of having a baby (“Desiree is a French name which means “desire”). She started walking when she was 1 year old and started speaking at 1 and a half year old. She couldn’t pronounced her name properly and always called herself “Jeejee.” When she was 3 years old, their family was invited in a house party (house is said to be adjoined with Loosdrecht Lakes). She was amazed and jumped in the water with her clothes on. She thought she could swim but actually she cannot. The most beautiful woman in Netherlands was saved by an eleven year-old boy and without the help of that boy she’s gone forever.

Desiree was born in Santpoort-Noord, a Dutch province of North Holland. She did a lot of sports like swimming, tennis, hockey, and ballet. She’s fond of travelling. When she was young, their family went to Israel where she was almost choked by the fleshy fruit she ate.

She spent her three years of high school at Ichthus College in Driehuis and finished highschool in the United States because her family moved to New Jersey in 2002. She went back to Netherlands in 2005 because she wanted to take medicine course at University of Amsterdam. She wanted to be a doctor someday. She wanted to help people in Africa and she wanted to stay there for at least a year.

Aside from the Miss Universe 2010 pageant, Desiree will also compete for the 2010 Miss World title on October and 2010 Miss Earth title on December.

Desiree has only 3 more years at University until she is a qualified doctor. Her hobbies include; Reading, Field Hockey, Sudoku but most of all she enjoys Travelling. Personal Motto: ‘Explore/try everything in life, but reserve/save the best.’

Music from the seventies and eighties. Books: Literature, thrillers and philosophical.
What is the proudest moment of your life or most memorable day?
The day I got accepted at the University of Amsterdam, medical school. I've worked so hard to realise this.
Describe yourself
I'm very determined and self-confident young woman who knows what she wants and enjoys life to the fullest.
Favourite food ?
Sushi, Italian, fruits and candy.
Future ambitions ?
I want to become a medical doctor and start my own fertility clinic after I specialised in this field.
Special Talents ?
Although I really enjoy music, art, drama, dance, etc. Unfortunately I am not very talented in these fields.
Tell us a little something about your Country ?
The Netherlands is a small country in Europe with very friendly people all speaking English and beautiful windmills and flower fields.
Any other interesting facts ?
I teach sexual education for high school students. When I finish medical school I want to go to Africa to help people there as a doctor.
