How are you preparing for Miss World in South Africa?
I am not only mentally preparing myself but I am also preparing myself emotionally and physically. With regards to emotional and mental preparation, I know that certain sacrifices would have to be made. Sacrifices such as not being able to spend much time with my family, friends and loved ones. However, it is teaching me how to schedule and manage my time wisely. The other sacrifice would be, being liberal with my food choices. Apart from that I am attending grooming and catwalk class to help improve my poise and deportment. I am also preparing gifts for the charity event that will be held in London as well as gifts for the other beautiful Miss World delegates. As this is my first international pageant I am learning as much as I can in this short span to do my nation proud.
What's your daily routine?
My daily routine would be starting off my day with stretching exercises or a morning walk after breakfast. Thereafter I would head down to school for lessons. Every alternate day I would attend dance classes and grooming classes. Dance classes allow me to express myself freely. This artistic interest gives me a sense of emancipation which unleashes the vibrant and bubbly personality in me. Grooming classes help enhance my poise and deportment. This has helped me build my confidence and has also developed me as a disciplined and outspoken individual.

How do you feel about travelling to South Africa?
I feel extremely thrilled as it would be my first time discovering South Africa. I have heard wonderful stories of this mega diverse country. It’s vibrant culture which surrounds the people, and the breathtaking sceneries are what I really am excited to experience. I am confident that I will definitely gain a lot of exposure from this wonderful country.
Which elements of Miss World are you most looking forward to?
The elements I most look forward to would be the charity events lined up for us. I strongly believe that it is important to be involved as you can render help to those in need. This allows me the opportunity to show my love and acceptance for others despite their difficulties or disabilities. If I was in the same situation, I would want others around to help guide me and make me feel accepted and appreciated.
Do you have a message to the other Miss World contestants?
I am definitely looking forward to meeting every one of the beautiful ladies. I am excited to learn something from each of you and developing relations which will not only last during our journey but after as well. I believe that each of us are already winners as we have all done each of our nation proud and have made it to the World Stage for this once in a lifetime opportunity. I wish all the ladies the very best and to keep in mind that we have everything to gain and nothing to loose.
What do you think are you qualities that youwill bring to the competition?
The qualities that I will bring to the competition would be my charisma, my gregarious and charitable disposition. I have the willingness to learn and to channel all my efforts and hard work into every task that is assigned to me. My sincere and humble disposition and strong will power will also be other qualities I would bring to the competition.
What would it mean to you to do well at Miss World?
It would be undeniably momentous as I am not only doing my friends and family proud, I am also doing my nation proud. This gives me a rare opportunity to show what this vibrant multi-cultural society (Singapore) is made of, not only on the world stage but also during charity events and public appearances, I will shine and give my best in every task that is imposed for me.
What is your favourite landmark?
My favourite landmark would be the Buckingham Palace because it’s structure is what captivated me when I first visited it back when I was 9. I also remember the changing of guards which I thought was brilliant because we don’t get to see such events like these happening in my country.
What is the one thing you cannot live without?
I definitely cannot live without my family members because they have been my morale support and have constantly shown me unconditional love. They have always encouraged me to face new challenges and to never be afraid to push my boundaries to achieve my best. They mean the world to me.
Who do you most admire?
A person I most admire would be my Mother. My mother plays a great deal in my life and has taught me that good ethical values are what make a person. She always encourages and supports us to go and venture out and never be afraid to experience new things such as allowing me to pursue my passion for dance when she could have forced me to pursue the academics. She has always mentioned to me that, character cannot be developed in ease and quiet but only through experiences can the soul strengthen, vision cleared, ambition inspired and success achieved.
Who has inspired you most in your life?
I would definitely say that my Mother is someone who fills me with inspiration. Her unconditional love, compassion and acceptance for everyone despite their difficulties and disabilities is something I have learnt to acquire and instill in me. |
