The winners are (L-R): Miss Earth Fire Alejandra Echevarria of Spain, 20, Miss Earth Air Sandra Seifert of the Philippines, 25, Miss Earth Larissa Ramos of Brazil, and Miss Earth Water Jessica Barboza of Venezuela, 22. Ramos beat about eighty contestants from around the world to win the Miss Earth 2009 title on Sunday.

Miss Earth 2009 Coronation Night - Winner: Miss BRAZIL




Larissa Ramos, a 20-year old Biology student from Manaus, Brazil, was crowned Miss Earth 2009 during the 9th edition of this popular pageant held in Boracay, Philippines, on November 22nd.



The 1.78 m beauty, who is currently studying at the Universidade Federal do Amazonas, will spend her year working for environmental causes.

1st runner-up and Miss Air was pre-pageant favorite Sandra Seifert from the Philippines, who bagged the titles of Best in Swimsuit and Best in Long Gown. Although a back to back victory was possible, most experts assured that Ms. Seifert would end up in the runner-up spot. Last year’s winner is from the Philippines.

The 2nd runner-up and Miss Water was the also-favorite Jessica Barboza from Venezuela. Living up to the reputation that Venezuelan beauties go to win every contest, the beauty won the title of Miss Water.

3rd runner-up was Alejandra Echevarria from Spain, whose performance on stage fascinated fans and experts. alike.

Completing the Top 8 finalists were the contestants from Thailand, Martinique, Colombia and Poland.

While in the Top 16 semi finalists, were delegates from Paraguay, Singapore, Northern Ireland, Korea, India, Georgia, France and South Africa.

80 beauties competed in this edition of the contest.

Miss Philippines wins Best in Long Gown Competition



Miss Philippines Sandra Seifert bagged the award for the Best in Long Gown in the Miss Earth 2009 in an event held at PAGCOR Grand Theatre. Miss Photogenic was awarded to Miss Czech Republic. Miss Congeniality went to Miss Switzerland . The special awards have no bearing in the selections of the top 18 finalists.

On November 15, 2009, the delegates from 80 countries were judged by a separate panel of judges in “closed-door” preliminaries to determine the 18 semi finalists to vie for the coveted title of Miss Earth 2009. The delegates appeared with the panel of judges with no make-up and scored based on their presentation in the Evening Gown, Swimsuit, and Interview (environmental knowledge, intelligence, and personality).

Miss Philippines elected Best in Swimsuit



Miss Earth Philippines, Sandra Seifert, was just named ‘Best in Swimsuit’ during an event held at Fontana Leisure Park and Casino in Clark, Pampanga. At the same time, Miss Earth China was awarded “Miss Fonatana”, a corporate special award. 15 finalists (the top 5 bodies in each group) competed in this contest. They were:

The contestants have been divided into three groups, and each group would have five winners for evening gown and swimsuit. The top fifteen then would still be in the running towards winning the Best in Evening Gown and Best in Swimsuit awards (two major awards).

Miss Tanzania elected Best National Costume



24 year-old Evelyne Amasi of Tanzania (center), bagged the title of Best in National Costume on November 4, 2009 at the Philippine Amazing Theater, Pasay City, an event participated by over 80 international delegates of Miss Earth 2009 Pageant. She introduced her number, an ensemble of African flora and fauna elements, by saying that Mother Earth is our one and common mother that needs our care. Other winners of the night included Guam’s Maria Luisa Santos as Miss Pasigandahan, a title that advocates the rehabilitation of Pasig River, and Puerto Rico’s Dignelis Jimenez as Miss Psalmstre New Placenta.
