KOREAN DRAMA 선덕여왕 "THE GREAT QUEEN SEON DEOK" EPISODE 30

SYNOPSIS THE GREAT QUEEN SEON DEOK EPISODE 30

Mi Shil: Your Highness. I Mi Shil am discussing about the people’s strive for mythical fantasy & that Your Highness is discussing about aspire hope but however that so called hope….that so called dream….in honestly truth it is a very cruel fantasy to be endeavour in. Your Highness in comparison with this Mi Sil is even more scheming in ruthless dexterity

Deok Man to herself

Deok Man: Yes, it may be right that maybe I should be so….but however……

Deok Man smiles

Kim Yong Chu can’t comprehend Deok Man’s intention as absurd that Deok Man is willing to give up this authority of divinity & pass the calenderic system to the people which should be rightful ownership of the Royal Household to hold the mandate. Kim Seo Hyeon that before then the authority was hold by Mi Shil but Kim Yong Chu agree but still that ownership was previously been held in the hands of the Royal Household. In the history of the founding of Silla 700 years, Mi Shil only rustles it for 20 years but now they want to reveal this to the people. Kim Seo Hyeon knows that Princess Deok Man is having something up her sleeves as she propose her ideas but it doesn’t leave him some doubt of worries about her intend. Kim Yong Chu asked for Im Jong’s input to the matter but Im Jong tells that he is not in the position to comment but he is certain that it will also caused a stir among the Hwarang captains

Then Mi Shil turns around as she was about to leave & ask what does Deok Man means by what she has said. Deok Man said that just as Mi Shil had heard it in the exact words implies that meaning, this just came passing in her thoughts. Mi Shil caught surprise just thanked Deok Man as though it was a compliments & leaves. Deok Man also leaves the premises as Deok Man gave some thought of her confrontation with Mi Shil as Mi Shil also on the contrary does the same in thoughts then question herself that in a short span of time that Deok Man has matured in her thoughts.

King Jinpyeong said that is it may be outrageous & great task to reveal the calendric system to the masses that they can know the right time to when they can cultivate. Princess Man Myeong said that all this while, it was under the role of administration of Mi Shil but because of the solar eclipse that Deok Man was able to obtain the authority from Mi Shil & that should be give to Deok Man to do but however…..King Jinpyeong said that even by constructing Cheomseongdae observatory were to be build, will the people able to absorb that knowledge. Queen Maya assures that Deok Man is a child that is meticulous in her in depth thoughts & excellent in her stratagem that goes with any consideration so she is not reckless in her action but then Queen Maya has her doubts to the matter this time. King Jinpyeong said will this able to materialise as that this might be protested by the Hwabaek council that even every government official down the ranks in the land may not able to comprehend that knowledge.

Al Cheon voice his disapproval over the matter that he is against the idea that he sees as absurd. Kim Yu Shin goes & debates on the defence of Deok Man’s ideas as Al Cheon hasn’t fully comprehend Deok man’s main purpose of intend. Al Cheon asked how hard was it that they reclaim back that authority that had been in the hands of Mi Shil since the time of King Jinheung & now it is resting on Deok man’s hand, only with intend to return that to the people & isn’t she suppose to use that knowledge for grander things. Kim Yu Shin argues that if Deok Man uses that knowledge, she is no better than Mi Shil. Al Cheon said that politics can’t go with sense of righteousness & justice as partners. Meanwhile while the 2 men are bickering, Bi Dam playing with the flame of the candles. Kim Yu Shin asked Bi Dam for his opinion whether he too is against that notion. Bi Dam brushes off that Deok Man is a genius, so they don’t understand nothing of what she intend to do. Bi Dam walks away that suddenly she becomes so intelligent & wonder what she took to eat to make her so intelligent that he want some of it

Bi Dam goes out for a drink & thinks of Deok Man’s intention that she is not giving up the authority of divinity but to abolished it once & for all. The Yonghwa Hyang Dae also debates on the purpose of building Cheomseongdae Observatory & its significant since they already had the Royal Celestial Temple. Joo Bang supplied them with his 2 cents answer that Deok Man needs to have a new building to prove her mandate of divinity as the previous temple belongs to Mi Shil & Deok man will not used 2nd temple as Deok Man is Demi God. Guk Seon Heun queries about opening the knowledge to heaven, & wonder that the heaven are always open to them & when was it ever closed. Joo Bang asked them to let him their ears to tell them the answer but stop short as if he tries to explained, the will not able to understand with the IQ they have & got everyone curious to know the answer

The people on the street also question the purpose of building Cheomseongdae as they believe it is the temple to praise heavens. Al Cheon asked Deok man to restraint from passing her new found divinity to the people. The matter was that previously it was Mi Shil who holds the authority was a mistake & now since Deok Man had regained it, it is a different scenario as the divinity originally belongs to the Royal Household, how can Deok Man pass it down so readily. Deok Man said that if she own the authority of divinity, there will be someone will be out there to snatch it from her. If it is snatch; she will have to snatch it from whoever then, Deok Man will have to regain it back from that someone as because without the authority of divinity, nothing can be done. This is why she will end all conflicts of tussle in regards to the authority of divinity. Kim Yu Shin whether this was discuss during her persuasion with Wyol Cheon

Deok Man said that Wyol Cheol express disappointment that people of science & maths are always being made pawn & being abused by the people of politics & their power struggles that brought the Abbot some form of anxiety. Kim Yu Shin said that this is why Deok Man has insists that the authority of divinity be pass down to the masses so that no one had the sole right to control that authority. Al Cheon insists that the authority of divinity rightful belongs to the Royal Household, how could be part away with it. Deok Man said that the authority of divinity doesn’t belong to no one to start with

Kim Yu Shin asked Deok Man privately when was it that she has thought to bring out this idea. When she 1st started to conjoured this idea. Deok Man said she is shy with Kim Yu Shin line of questioning that she in this matter. Deok Man said that she was only trying to answer Wyol Cheon’s constant questions in order to win Wyol Cheon to her give her the assistance. This was the only method that will prevent politics for abusing the knowledge of science, she was thinking of that & then this was the conclusion she made after some thoughts. Kim Yu Shin said that she was brilliant in finding the answer to the question no matter how it was came about to begin with. Deok Man doesn’t understand what Kim Yu Shin is implying as Kim Yu Shin said that when he heard the order from her, reminds him of the story of Yi Cha Don. Kim Yu Shin has heard from his father that when the Nobles who was in favour of the heaven worship in temple tremendously oppose to the coming of Buddhism to the courts as State religion, King Beopheung (AD 514 – 540) tries to makes it true by planning a ploy for it. But however States religion & believes is something that can’t be change so easily as the heaven worship was more powerful than Buddhism, this is the tactics that Mi Shil had been using all this while. Deok Man said that she will read & learn further to the matter for better insight & she wants Kim Yu Shin t help her

Yi Cha Don is a Buddhist monk who was martyred to make Buddhism a Silla state religion during the 14th year of the reign of King Beopheung the 23rd Ruler of Silla in AD 527. A temple named Jachusa now Baeryulsa temple is suppose to have built to praise his soul in Gyeongju, Gyeongsangbuk-do.

In Ancient China, heaven worship or Tian is consider as a indigenous religion & as God that interpersonal power in contrast to Shang Di or Supreme Ruler, but the two are closely identified and the terms frequently used synonymously. Ancient evidence test suggests that heavens referred to the sky while Shang Di referred to the Supreme Ancestor who resided there. The first mention of heaven as a religion dated as early in the Chou Dynasty (B1111–255), and it is was thought that heaven assimilated Shang Di, the supreme god of the preceding Shang Dynasty (circa around middle of 16th century -11th century BC). The importance of both Tian and Shang Ti to the ancient Chinese lay in their assumed influence over the fertility of the clan and its crops; sacrifices were offered to these powers solely by the king and, later, by the emperor. Chinese rulers were traditionally referred to as Son of heaven (Tian zi), & their authority was believed to emanate from heaven. Beginning in the Chou dynasty, sovereignty was explained by the concept of the mandate of heaven (Tian Ming). This was a grant of authority that depended not on divine right but on virtue. Indeed, this authority was revocable if the ruler did not attend to his virtue. Since the ruler’s virtue was believed to be reflected in the harmony of the empire, social and political unrest were traditionally considered signs that the mandate had been revoked and would soon be transferred to a succeeding dynasty. Although, in the early Chou dynasty, heaven was conceived as an anthropomorphic, all-powerful deity, in later references. Heaven is often no longer personalized. In this sense, heaven can be likened to nature or to fates. In many cases, it is unclear which meaning of heaven is being used. This ambiguity can be explained by the fact that Chinese philosophy was concerned less with defining the character of heaven than with defining its relationship to man. Scholars generally agreed that heaven was the source of moral law, but for centuries they debated whether heaven responded to human pleas and rewarded and punished human actions or whether events merely followed the order and principles established by heavens. Heaven religion has spin off to Taoism, Confucianism, Shinto, Shamanism that incorporate these elements

Buddhism later on came to China during AD 65 imported from India. In its introduction, Buddhism has permeated Chinese society and its economic life, despite periodic suppression by the state. It had affected the customs of all levels of society by the time of the Tang Dynasty some 6 centuries after its introduction; thus in religions in China, before the arrival of Buddhism, had merely been a spiritual subsystem of the secular world. It was a spiritual extension of the rigid hierarchy of the ancient Chinese socio political realm. Buddhism concerns are more ethical than metaphysical, focusing on human suffering, which is considered as inherent in life itself. Buddhism provided a previously unavailable outlet of direct religious expression for the common people. It introduced participatory religious experience into Chinese society. Whereas, in the context of the rigid Confucian social structure, Taoism provides the Chinese people with introverted individual spiritual freedom, Buddhism provides them with extroverted collective spiritual liberation, independent of communal hierarchy. Taoism allows the individual to contemplate privately, freeing him from the mental tyranny of an all-controlling culture, while Buddhism allows the people to worship independently, freeing them from the pervasive control of a rigid secular socio-political hierarchy. From its beginning, Buddhism took on an anti-establishment posture, which it moderated as it developed in China but never totally abandoned. Traditionally, in the early part of an emperor’s reign, as soon as his rule was firmly established, he would perform the elaborate and formal Feng Shan (Mountain worship) rites. These Confucian rites of theocratic feudalism involve the paying of tribute by Son of Heaven as Emperor, on behalf of his Nation, namely the common people, to Tian (Heaven) where the head god Tian Di or Shang Di (King in Heaven) reigns. Through the feng shan rites, the Emperor received tribute and accepted loyalty pledges from his vassal lords on behalf of their many minions and subjects throughout the empire. Anyone besides the Emperor performing religious rites. directly to Heaven would be committing forbidden acts tantamount to treasonous usurpation. But here we see almighty Mi Shil doing it for almost 20 years without any utter in protest. Buddhism broke the monopolistic hold of the supreme ruler on religious celebration and opened it to all for the taking. Little wonder that Buddhism spread like wildflowers. By breaking down the hierarchical religious monopoly implied by Confucian Feng Shan rites, Buddhism in its early history in China unwittingly contributed to the crumbling of the foundation of a feudal hierarchy that was already in decline. Buddhism’s populist theology bolstered the emergence of a secular structure in the form of a centrally managed empire, replacing autonomous local authority. In this new secular structure individuals could participate more freely in social functions, unrestricted by traditional local hierarchy. The Buddhism notion of nirvana runs parallel to the concept of the Mandate of Heaven (Tian Ming). Ironically, by claiming that a state of nirvana could be earned through religious devotion by any deserving member of society, it implies that the Mandate of Heaven can also be earned by any deserving hero. Thus Buddhism invited periodic and recurring suppression from paranoid emperors who felt obliged to adopt anti-subversive measures against Buddhism, in order to defend the imperial claim on the Mandate of Heaven from challenges by ambitious members of the aristocracy who were Buddhist devotees. This happened when Joseon Dynasty took over from Guryeo who was a Buddhism nation that Joseon ban Buddhism & revert or opted for the heaven worship under the guidelines with Confucianism principals. But it didn’t stop the masses from practice Buddhism. When King Sejong’s wife Queen Soheon was passed away, King Sejong held memorial ritual for his Queen in several Buddhist temples. King Sejong’s wife Queen Soheon was buried under Buddhism rites as King Sejong later silent devotee to Buddhism after his wife died but he kept his governance secular as to Confucianism in politics but belief in Buddhism. He had Buddhism mantra translated in Hangul in honour for his wife & composed “Songs of the Moon’s reflection on a thousand rivers” (Worin Cheongang Jigok) in memory of his wife on poem praising Buddha. King Sejong & Queen Soheon are buried together in the same tomb mount

Deok Man tells that she was taken aback in surprise in the exchange conversations she has with Mi Shil. Kim Yu Shin asked whether Mi Shil had threatened Deok Man yet again. Deok man smiles that on the contrary that Deok Man receive a lot queries from Mi Shil but as Deok Man tries to reply to the queries, she is amaze herself that whether what she is answering is actually the truth & if she always had those answer already in her mind. Deok Man gave those answer as though it seems that she have considered those answer thoroughly that she went through it in depth in her mind before answering them. Deok Man said that this amaze her.

Meanwhile Mi Shil thinks that child is really immature & childish in her understanding. Seol Won Rang asked whether she is referring to Deok Man. When she speaks of it, it is a splendour & magnificent ideals but in reality it is totally preposterous. Seol Won Rang concurs that the time of heaven & the time on earth, this is something impossible. Mi Shil said it then of course that Deok Man is thinking in such a naive context. Seol Won Rang said that king Beopheung makes use of Yi Cha Don to bring & introduce Buddhism to the state had already come to close to a 100 years, however people still worship the heaven & their ancestors & exercise memorial rituals for prosperity. Mi Shil said that it is of course that people can’t do without or shed their belief fantasy & myth to survive. Mi Shil have make use of heaven’s will for personal gain but in actual fact, the people had also use her for the same purpose. Seol Won Rang agree that the people will like to have someone to intercede for them between heaven & them, this is what they always desire

Mi Shil said however she already lose her authority in divinity & can’t see the future & are the same with the rest of the human race. The people will not accept this as the reality of truth, with this she is not actually certain of her fact, how will she consider to do battle with almighty her. Mi Shil is seen sulking as Seol Won Rang said that what she has mentioned is indeed true but why Mi Shil had the expression of dissatisfaction that this is eaten onto her. Mi Shil tells Seol Won Rang that she is jealous. Seol Won Rang is surprise at the remark

Deok Man recalls what the conversation transpire before she left Deok Man

Deok Man: Seju Mi Shil, she is indeed really outstanding…..When I was younger I read a book Plutarch’s Parallel lives that had many characters in the book, she is exactly like one of the character that comes emerging from that book that suddenly pop out

Kim Yu Shin: Please intrude with my insolent to directly say this to you, Your highness you are in the midst of maturing

Deok Man: What?

Kim Yu Shin: The adversary that you are in the midst of challenging; that you need to learn from…need to analyse with that had created you to perceive matter with a broad & open mind to accept matter

Deok Man: Is that so?

Meanwhile Seol Won Rang wonders why Deok Man had gain Mi Shil’s envy

Mi Shil: Firstly, the ideals that she brings out makes me envious. I, Mi Shil who grew up in the confine of the Seorabeol’s Royal Household, this is something I will never able to imagine. Secondly, actually I envy her youth, there will come a time after when the division in religion, politics & science will occurred sooner or later & it will happened by then there is many things to prepare when that time comes, as I Mi Shil will be too old to take on that task. Thirdly….Third….

Seol Won Rang: What is it then, Seju?

Mi Shil: Why wasn’t I born as a Seonggol. I just wish to aspire my only dream & ambition of being Queen of this nation, it is seen that I will never able to realise this & that of more. I Mi Shil have only this aspire dream that may never have the opportunity to realise this dream

Mi Shil now looks like one of the tragic character in Plutarch’s Parallel lives. Mi Shil just want to be Queen & that she rules behind the screen with Se Jong as puppet, but Deok Man goes a step further that she wants to be the sovereign ruler, the Queen Regnant

Deok Man with Kim Yu Shin as she continues that as after discussing with Mi Shil & she was about to leave, I mentioned this to her as it occurs to me that she really wish to engage further in the conversation with her, that she indeed wish to engage in dialogue with Mi Shil

Deok Man: So as I came out from there to here, do you know what did I mentioned to her?

Kim Yu Shin: What did you say?

Recall as Mi Shil leaves

Deok Man: Seju, I wish you to live long

Seju: Eh?…..What did you say just now?

Deok Man: It is as exactly as what you have just hear. This was just my thought that suddenly came occurring to me

Mi Shil not sure how to reaction

Mi Shil: Yes, thank you

Seol Won Rang is surprise that Deok Man wish her to live long & laughs. MI Shil said that Deok Man had taken away her authority of divinity from her & brought her down & even if Mi Shil hates her with such vengeance, she really wanted to embrace. If it is not for Moon Noh who took her away & if she wasn’t the prophesy twins, it is likely that Mi Shil would have foster Deok Man

Notices paste on the board as Moon Noh reads it

Notice: The proprietor of Gaeyang, the heavenly Princess installation is the country’s bliss & harmony

Moon Noh recalls that he went to Hanju, China looking for So Hwa & baby Deok Man

Hanju, China is the city of Hangzhou. Hangzhou is also the off route to the Silk Road then link to Silla’s Gyeong Ju. It is also one of the 7 Ancient capitals of China, it was founded in the Sui Dynasty AD 581-618, the circa era that Queen Seon Deok is now in

Hangzhou China, some 20 years ago. Conversation in Mandarin

Woman: Who are you looking for?

Moon Noh: I am from Gyerim. I am here looking for Jin Do Lu

Kim Do Rok/Jin Do Lu comes to greet Moon Noh the is inform So Hwa had taken the infant & has disappear. Moon Noh has instructed her to meet him here at this rendezvous point. Kim Do Rok said that one day he went sent some provision to them & finds them gone & that a letter was left behind. Kim Do Rok passes the letter to Moon Noh to read

So Hwa: Lord Guk Seon, please forgive this imprudent palace maid. I know that Your Lord had grander plans install for the infant but however, I have receive my orders from His Majesty is to raise the child in common environment to make her survive, so what you have mentioned about the destiny to be Lady Mi Shil’s adversary. This infant & including me, will not want to be any part of this plans, it is best that we keep this matter in ignorance. I don’t wish to involve this infant in turmoil & intrigue conflicts. Please for this palace maid; asked for your sincere forgiveness

Moon Noh crushes the letter. Then return to the present, Moon Noh question what is actually happening here, what has happened to So Hwa, how can the younger twin Princess has return to Silla & then created happenings such an exploding entrance as such. Bi Dam comes in & greets Moon Noh. Bi Dam asked whether his teacher witness the solar eclipse. Moon Noh had seen it

Bi Dam said that the younger twin Princess has been installed & she will reveal the calendric system to the people & announce the knowledge of heaven to the masses. Moon Noh asked why Bi Dam is so interested in matter that it happening in ways of the world. Bi Dam asked his teacher permission that it is the right time for him to come out to the way of the world. Bi Dam said that he wishes to render his service to the Princess. Moon Noh surprise at Bi Dam remark. Bi Dam wants to serve the Princess. Moon Noh asked whether the Princess had accept his services in to her reins. Bi Dam tells that the younger twin Princess was that Nang Do that came to Yangju village, Bi Dam is now under her service. Moon Noh realise who Deok Man is now as he recalls her from his encounter with her when Bi Dam came back to tell that he was in a fight to save her. Deok Man confirms Bi Dam story. Moon Noh wants confirmation that it was Deok Man as Bi Dam affirms it.

Deok Man goes to King Jinpyeong for his approval. King Jinpyeong doesn’t see any problem in the construction of Cheomseongdae, but however what was said after that is the problem. Deok Man was to segregate the between religion & politics as 2 entities of institutions, that why she spoke of it. King Jinpyeong asked whether Deok man had give consideration & thought to such an enormous venture, as during this time the authority of divinity did fall in the hands of Mi Shil but soon or later it has to return to the Royal Household. But if it is this authority is given up then the authority of royal power will be weaken from the Royal Household, thereafter what is Deok Man suppose to do then. Deok Man tells directly to her father that it is really invalid & obsolete argument & back dated that the perception of power of divinity can wrestle the authority of royal power. If they need authority of royal power, they have to embrace & take on the Buddhism religion for that purpose. Deok Man wants Buddhism to be spread to the people & be thought to change heaven worship. The authority of religion using the logic & the knowledge of science must not be tolerate for their own gains

Segregation of religion & politics goes down as repeats in history. The same was between Church/Temple & State/politics that came about to the formation of the civil law especially the Napoleonic Code, the French Civil law in 1804. The problem of religion and politics defines in set of issues. Religion/Temple and State/Politics deals with the relationship of institutions that are independent of each other. Religion & politics has to do with two spheres of activities in the life of the same persons. Citizens who belong to religious belief groups are also members of the secular society, and this dual association generates complications. Religious beliefs have moral and social implications, and it is appropriate for people of faith to express these through their activities as citizens in the political order. The fact that ethical convictions are rooted in religious faith does not disqualify them from the political realm. However, they do not have secular validity merely because they are thought by their exponents to be religiously authorized. They must be argued for in appropriate social and political terms in harmony with national values. In both cases, Deok Man should be prepared to deal with complexities, ambiguities, and overlapping realms in which practical discernment must find workable principles to guide Silla that are as compatible with fundamental Constitutional imperatives as human reason can devise.

Moon Noh said to Bi Dam that the person, the Nang Do that Bi Dam wanted to help is actually younger twin Princess. Bi Dam confirms. Moon Noh said that Bi Dam told him that he pity her that why he wanted to help Deok Man, so Moon Noh asking whether Bi Dam still pities her. Bi Dam shakes his head that it is now not so. Moon Noh asked him it is because that child is now a Royal princess. Bi Dam tells Moon Noh on the contrary that the Princess is that child. If the nation’s Royal princess would be that child then Bi Dam will go all out to serve her through this journey to have the same dreams that what he will be thinking & the reason to serve her. Bo Dam said that the knowledge only exclusive to Royalty & Religious sect but not to the people who cultivate the lands, the heavens 24 marking of the seasonal change. The solstices of the season, this should be known to the people & they will able to grasp that knowledge in their cultivation so that why the purpose of constructing Cheomseongdae. It is better than those calendar system that is written on leather or man made calendar but those derived from observation of the heavens from the building itself.

Deok Man goes to Hwabaek Council for the voting of to pass the construction of Cheomseongdae. The Nobles greet Deok Man as Se Jong announce that the Hwabaek Council is in session over the construction of Cheomseongdae & now the Nobles need to take a vote on the matter whether it is fore or against. Mi Shil & Deok man looks at each other trying to read their thoughts. The Nobles put in their ballot to vote. Then Se Jong announces that the Nobles of the Hwabaek Council had unanimously vote from all 10 members in favour of the construction of Cheomseongdae. This surprise Deok Man. Se Jong gavel the motion to pass. Hwabaek Council is clear & Mi Shil & Deok Man is left at each other’s company. Deok Man said that it is hard to read or counter what motive do Mi Shil had in minds over approving Cheomseongdae. What is that motive is, she is really curious. Mi Shil replies that she does have any hidden agenda to that matter. Deok Man tells Mi Shil there is no necessity that she had to favour the construction project. Mi Shil said that it is true that she doesn’t need to favour either that she needs to go & disapprove against that motion. Deok Man went on a thinking mode as Mi Shil looks on as they go trapping each other in mind games

Se Jong said that Kim Seo Hyeon & Kim Yong Chu must be shock at the unanimous vote for the motion. Mi Saeng said that he could take a guess that the both of them may vote to go against the motion but they didn’t anticipate that we will do the total opposite. Ha Jong said that he did as he was told by Mi Shil, but doesn’t understand why they need to do so. Seol Won Rang said it is not anything spectacular in constructing a building, the most important thing that come after is what happened when that building is complete. Mi Saeng concurs that the building of Cheomseongdae is symbolic, as it stand by itself there is not significant. Will that illiterate people & pheasant able to comprehend the knowledge? Ha Jong said wouldn’t it be better that we had motion to go against it from the start

Mi Shil said that Princess Deok Man had made use of the solar eclipse to regain the authority of divinity from them, therefore she had use this authority to propose the construct of the building. This is a matter that under mind her very own authority of divinity. Seol Won Rang said that this is a dilemma in itself. Mi Shil said that Deok Man will construct this building then after what is she going to do next, will she able to escape from the hole that she herself & dug. What will happened next in Deok Man next course of action, she is curious to see the outcome of that result. This is really banging her head onto a brick wall

Deok Man meets with Bi Dam as he greets her

Deok Man: You are here

Bi Dam: Can you able to win over Mi Shil?

Deok Man surprise

Deok Man: Why are you suddenly address me in honorific speech?

Bi Dam: I asked the question first, so Your Highness, firstly please answer to my question… Can you able to win over Mi Shil?

Deok Man: Mi Shil? I too had give thought to the matter; will I able to win over her? In what way must I do in order to do so? Mi Shil honestly is a great adversary to be reckon with but however there is something that Mi Shil doesn’t have but I do have in preparation as an arsenal

Bi Dam: What is that?

Deok Man: I have Mi Shil that kind of adversary

Bi Dam: Eh?

Deok Man: i have with me Mi Shil who is an excellent & outstanding opponent to sharpen my wits & skills. Mi Shil since King Jinheung some 20 years from now had yet to meet any opponent to cross wits with. As I challenge Mi Shil against wits, my perspective broadens in strength. When in my exchanges conversation with Mi Shil, I learned that Mi Shil had no fear of heaven but in the contrary she fears the people, so she listens to voice of the people, as for her it is a phobia & bring fear to her. However I have never fear in listen to people. No matter how many question is render to me, the question will determine my all

Bi Dam: Was this, the reason that you will able to persuade Wyol Cheon to your side?

Deok Man: Yes it is….Honestly at that moment, I really didn’t know what was the best way to go about the matter, but for the sake of persuading Wyol Cheon, for the sake to make him understand why he needs to, I had made many queries to the matter towards Wyol Cheon & in that I found my replies. Here after what the people or even the world will ask me many question for me to answer them. I will not have fear not to answer them but will listen to their question & it my utmost effort will find the answer for them. With this believe, this is the way of method that I can do battle with Mi Shil

Bi Dam smiles

Deok Man: Fine, it is your turn, why did you suddenly address me in honourific speech?

Bi Dam: I have 2 reason to do so, Your Highness…Firstly seeing how you handles matter, it has given me some great insights that make me slightly inferior, it tell me that I have to address you in honourific speech

Deok Man smiles

Deok Man: Then also

Bi Dam: Also secondly….from here onwards, as death may come to me that I will vowed to swore legion on oath of my life to serve you as my proprietor (sovereign)

Deok Man is surprise at Bi Dam’s loyalty pledge & oath declaration

Deok Man: Why?

Bi Dam: It is because the last time Your Highness had played tricks on me…I don’t wish to make enemy of you

Deok Man: I too am the same time, will not want to make you to become my enemy

Bi Dam kneels before Deok Man

Bi Dam: No status Bi Dam…your servant Bi Dam….sent greeting of respect to Bi Dam’s proprietor Your Highness Princess Deok Man

Deok Man gave some thought & smiles. Bi Dam is happy that Deok Man has accept his legion then recall his conversation with his teacher Moon Noh as Moon Noh asked whether Bi Dam for his opinion Bi Dam thinks that Deok Man is able be a worthy opponent to Mi Shil. Bi Dam signs that his teacher Bi Dam worries about a lot of things. Bi Dam tells himself that as it progress, it is currently fine with him. Bi Dam will wait & see, they will challenge the world

Then Chil Sook comes to have a bout of swordsplay on wooden swords to test Bi Dam’s skills. Then the exact the same as Moon Noh. Chil Sook conform what he is looking for in Bi Dam & leaves, Bi Dam gave chase but loses Chil Sook’s whereabouts but see no sight of him & wonder what is going on & Chil Sook is really quick. Then Seol Won Rang meets with Chil Sook to ask of his opinion after sparing with Bi Dam. Chil Sook said that it is correct that it is indeed Moon Noh’s swordsplay that Bi Dam is using. Bi Dam portrays the same defensive tactical skill of Guk Seon Moon Noh. Chil Sook asked who is Bi Dam as Seol Won Rang is not certain who he is. Seol Won Rang is surprise that Moon Noh is around. Chil Sook offers that he will observe & follow Bi Dam as Seol Won Rang agrees

Early at dawn; Kim Yu Shin comes to Deok Man’s study & finds that she is already started in her research & apologise for being late. Deok Man tells that he is not late at all. Kim Yu Shin asked whether she stayed up all night at it. Deok Man showed Kim Yu Shin her findings. Kim Yu Shin asked what is Deok Man so busy jotting down. Deok Man what to know how the taxation on the people are done. Deok Man did her findings at the Nae Dang Gu but they are too many volume to organise

Nae Dang Gu is the Royal Treasury

Kim Yu Shin looks at Deok Man who is busy organising her materials. Queen Maya in Deok Man’s chamber as she asked that Deok man didn’t come back to her chambers to rest yet again. The palace maid informs that Princess Deok Man had said that she had too many things to attend to & dismiss the palace maid to retire. Queen Maya is concern. Deok Man asked that a ground breaking ceremony should be done for Cheomseongdae should proceed

Gye Gong Go Sa is a Ground breaking ceremony for construction to request permission from the gods & notify the people of the construction.

Groundbreaking ceremony is more shamanistic in nature such as Shinto or shaman practice in Japan & Korea. Self proclaim Buddhist Korean is also blurred the boundary between their religion and its shamanistic precursor. It is usually that in a construction before it is build, there is some ground breaking ritual that must be attended to. For example in Japan they have the Jichinsai is a ceremony is a Shinto ritual intended to calm the kami (god) of the earth whenever a new building or other construction begins. It was or is believed that without going through the protocol of requesting permission from the earth kami, any building constructed would anger the kami and lead to its destruction. Another purpose is to pray that the actual construction proceeds without any “incidents”. Meanwhile in Korea; shamanistic elements are contained in a ritual that most contemporary Koreans still perform at groundbreaking ceremonies or on the first day of business. It is conducted even by sophisticated corporations such as banks and computer companies, and on the set of movies when filming starts. Food is placed on an offering table, surrounding the head of a pig, preferably a smiling one, since these are believed to bring greater blessings. Those gathered offer a bow to the pig’s head and put money in its mouth. Pigs are also welcome visitors in dreams. Koreans are glad when they have a “pig dream” because these are supposed to be the harbingers of good fortune.

Deok Man tells that Wyol Cheon will give them the auspicious date to commence the ritual. Al Cheon obey the instruction as Deok Man tells that they need to be constant contact with Wyol Cheon during the progress of the construction & it goes stringently according to the plans. Then Deok Man instruct that Kim Yu Shin needs to supervise & strengthen the military might of the Gaya people residing in Amnyangju. Kim Yu Shin said it is in progress. Deok Man said these matter needs a long term planning & strategy to plan & execute. Deok Man said that the current nation Military power is under Seol Won Rang’s control while else Kim Seo Hyeon’s army & provisional guards are far too weak. There is also that they will not be certain that this army will be standing on the same side when the time comes. Kim Yu Shin assure that he will raise an army that is battle fit & ready that is loyal to their cause. Deok Man request to summon Bo Gya Hoe’s Wyol Ya & Seo Ji to Seorabeol.

Al Cheon asked how can she summon these people to Seorabeol. Deok Man said that the army at Amnyangju will be better in the control of Kim Yu Shin, if their present is not felt in that place & will suit Kim Yu Shin better in their training. There is also that Wyol Ya & Seo Ji are high risk people, residing too long in Amnyangju, it may turn that army to a revolution army at a moment notice. Al Cheon smiles as Deok Man is so detailed in her planning thinking from all sides. Deok Man said that if Wyol Ya & Seo Ji is uprooted & to reside in Seorabeol, she asked Al Cheon & Kim Yu Shin to go finds a way to make them come. Kim Yu Shin obeys the instruction. Seo Ji & Wyol Ya is in practice training on men with cross bow of shoot & load as Kim Yu Shin comes as Wyol Ya greets Kim Yu Shin. Kim Yu Shin said that he has some important & urgent matter for them, so he came by

Mi Shil & Seol Won Rang having tea as Bo Jong tells that Princess Deok Man was in her study all night working. Mi Shil hears it & tells Seol Won Rang that in the midst of our Royal Household if there is 10 of them of her kind, wouldn’t it be favourable. Seol Won Rang said that maybe Deok Man’s night stay is due because of the preparation in getting ready for the construction of Cheomseongdae & is excited. Mi Shil asked when is ground breaking ceremony. Bo Jong said that the date has not been set. The site is at Banwyolseong facing northeast. Mi Shil understands & excused Bo Jong. Bo Jong asked that Deok Cheon had come asking on how should they going to deal with the matter on in regards to So Hwa. Seol Won Rang asked how is the health condition of So Hwa. Bo Jong report that the wounds is healing but hasn’t regards consciousness. Mi Shil tells there is no need. Bo Jong is surprise at his mother’s remark. Mi Shil finds there is no use for So Hwa anymore. Bo Jong expresses his concern. Mi Shil asked whether she is some market vendor that will play to theatrics, now there is no need for So Hwa. Bo Jong is actually concern about Chil Sook but Seol Won Rang stops his son for going any further. Bo Jong understands & leaves

So Hwa regains consciousness & started to recalls the events of sinking into the quicksand, then Chil Sook taking her to seek treatment, as she gets up, her focus becomes for clearer. King Jinpyeong sadden that she had come to this state & it is all his fault. Queen Maya embracing her & telling how sorry she is. So Hwa in her Nang Do outfit glances at Deok Man crying & could utter Deok Man’s name. It seems So Hwa has waken up from her aphasia

Deok Cheon comes to asked what has Mi Shil instructed. Bo Jong tells Deok Cheon that Mi Shil has order there is no longer the need for So Hwa. Mi Shil has order to deal with So Hwa & they can return to their posting. Deok Cheon understands. So Hwa realise that Deok man is in Silla, then the door opens & So Hwa pretends to sleep as the palace maid brings her the food tray & leaves. So Hwa weeps. Dae Pung & Guk San Heun is tracking Deok Cheon & Bak Il has been seen frequently coming in & out in this area.

Bak Il who is guarding tells that Princess Deok Man intention in building Cheomseongdae. The cadre said that it is a building that able to observe star & moon & all what is there in heavens. Bak Il thinks it is absurd that what do people gain in looking up in the sky. The matter of celestial had now need to announce & published to the people, he is suspicious whether they are in the right frame of mind. Nang Do complains that this matter is none of their concern, until now he doesn’t believe the fact that Yonghwa Hyangdo cadre Deok Man is actually Royal Princess. So Hwa hears that Deok Man is referred as Princess Deok Man as she went to pick something sharp. The palace maid coming with the food tray as the cadre opens the door for her. So Hwa is sitting up & ready the sharp object as the palace maid is surprise that So Hwa has regain consciousness as So Hwa perks up & is about to strike. Dae Pung & Guk San Heun still observing the premises. So Hwa already change into the palace maid uniform & leaves the hut when the cadre asked that So Hwa didn’t eat her meal as So Hwa answers yes & leaves without them noticing. Bak Il asked when is So Hwa going to speak. So Hwa leaves the area although they notice So Hwa leaving in such haste, they didn’t pursue as brush it off as nothing

Bi Dam & Moon Noh on the street over the ground breaking ceremony that Deok man is going to preside. Bi Dam advertising to his teacher how great & excellent Deok Man is. Chil Sook who is tracking Bi Dam is following behind closely

Is it necessary for Moon Noh & Chil Sook to don such a enormous straw hats to hide their identity or to be discreet but stick out like the sore thumb in the midst among the crowd?

Bo Jong inform Mi Shil that Deok Man is leaving for the ground breaking ceremony. Mi Saeng said that this is Deok Man 1st official excursion after her installation, the atmosphere should be out of the ordinary. Ha Jong said that they more higher the expectation, the more likely to be disappointed. It seems that Mi Shil has order a boycott of non attendance to Deok Man’s ground breaking ceremony

Deok Cheong comes back as Bak Il asked what is their further instruction. Deok Cheon wants the Nangdo to be dismissed as Bak Il dismiss the Nangdo. Dae Cheon said there is no need for So Hwa so the order is to kill So Hwa. Bak Il said that they need to kill So Hwa. Deok Cheon said that it has t be done discreetly without anyone’s notice & to settle the corpse cleaning. Deok Cheon Bak Il goes to the hut & about to killed So Hwa when they draw the blanket to find the gagged & tied palace maid that brought the food tray & realise that So Hwa has escape & they need to catch her at once.

So Hwa is sprinting down the alleys. Hmmm! It seems that her lungs are really fine & robust. Deok Cheon orders to catch So Hwa who is now dress in palace maid’s uniform & needs to capture her back. Dae Pung & Guk San Heun seeks the commotion & follows them. So Hwa reads the notice about Deok Man going to preside over the ground breaking ceremony for Cheomseongdae. So Hwa goes to the the site.

Deok Man sets off to the site to preside the ground breaking ceremony in such pompous regalia as she is chaired in a large palanquin. Joo Bang & Go Do doing crowd control to pave the way. Wyol Cheon is walking behind with the palace maids. It looks like Deok Man took on Princess Cheon Myeong’s palace staff. Bi Dam shows Moon Noh Deok Man as Moon Noh got a glance at Deok Man. Bi Dam said that Deok Man wants to see Moon Noh & asked his teacher to follow him. Moon Noh follows & Chil Sook is in pursuit behind. Deok Man arrives to find that the attendance was next to nought. Kim Yu Shin said there is no representative from the government. Bi Dam comes & said that he has brought his teacher along then finds Moon Noh not in sight & can’t be found. Joo Bang & Go Do asked why there is so few people attending as they anticipate a large crowd. Joo Bang said not even one of the Nobles or the Government officials are present on site. Deok Man comes from her palanquin to find the attendance is not favourable but a crowd of people seeking miracles cures

Kim Yu Shin asked the people to pay their respect to Princess Deok Man as the people kneels before Deok Man. Joo Bang tries to console Deok Man that ground breaking ceremony is best to leave as a sacred affairs with less people to able to calm the Gods. Go Do concurs that with too many people it will ruined the atmosphere. Deok Man looks around her surrounding environment. So Hwa sprint along to the site. So Hwa is a great middle distance runner with such pacing as Deok Cheon & other are chasing So Hwa, while they are being pursuit by Dae Pung & Guk Suk Heun .

Deok man goes to preside the ground breaking ceremony then asked to return back to the palace. As she was leaving the crowd rouse in noise as Deok man goes to see what is the commotion * asked what is the matter. There was a lady begging Deok Man for divine intervention to give her a son that she will pray in the building every day. Then the other with her mother gravely ill & wants a miracle cure. Then a mother bring her son who had injure his eyes to asked her for a cure so he will not be blind. Joo Bang tells the crowd that this building is not build to take petition, it is an astronomical observatory but the people don’t understand what Cheomseongdae represents as Kim Yu Shin asked the crowd to disperse & asked Deok Man to go the palanquin. Moon Noh looking at the distance as Chil Sook is on his tail. Moon Noh leaves after seeing enough.

So Hwa running the site as Deok Cheon pursue her. Moon Noh finds that he been followed. So Hwa arrives & finds that Deok man & her entourage is leaving as So Hwa shouts for Deok Man. Deok man hears So Hwa as Deok Cheon & Chil Sook hears So Hwa cries for Deok Man. So Hwa tries to catch up on Deok man’s entourage & shout for her again. Deok Man realise that the call for her is a familiar voice. Chil Sook abandons trailing Moon Noh & runs to So Hwa. Deok Man asked the palanquin to stop as she looks around. Meanwhile Chil Sook then comes shouting for So Hwa. So Hwa seeing Chil Sook, runs like a scared rabbit from him as she pick up her heels to run. Deok Man looks around but doesn’t see anyone & asked proceed with the journey.

Then while running, So Hwa is intercept by Deok Cheon & is muffled to keep silence & drag away. Moon Noh sees it & follows. Deok man sensing that something is not right asked the entourage to turn back to the site as she recalls hearing So Hwa’s call for her name. Dae Cheon drag So Hwa t oa private spot & about to execute So Hwa when Moon Noh intercept. Moon Noh fights with Deok Cheon & Bak Il but there are no match for him & abandons the place. Chil Sook finds the fleeing Deok Cheon & Bak Il as he goes to the direction then finds Moon Noh approaching the frighten So Hwa as he picks her up. So Hwa recognise Moon Noh then more shocked that Chil Sook comes along & draw his sword at Moon Noh as they battle they find out each other who they are. Chil Sook turns around to find So Hwa missing & had eluded him again

Deok Man & her entourage returns to Cheomseongdae site as she hurried to come out from her palanquin looking for something

Al Cheon: Your highness, is something the matter?

Deok Man: I just heard a strange voice

Al Cheon: What kind of voice did you hear?

Deok Man looks around as So Hwa comes running & notices Deok Man & glad to see that it is indeed her

So Hwa: Deok Man!!!!

Deok Man goes looking for that familiar voice but doesn’t see So Hwa

So Hwa: Deok Man!!!!

Deok Man realise as she looks towards the direction of So Hwa calling on her & she is surprisedAl Cheon voice his disapproval over the matter that he is against the idea that he sees as absurd.
