Tell us about your job/studies
I am a training to be an Air Hostess.
How are you preparing for Miss World in South Africa?
Keeping fit and seeking advice from past Miss Uganda winners and trying to get in touch with former Miss World contestants for advice, support and guidance.
What's your daily routine?
As I have only just been crowned Miss Uganda 2009 on the 26th Sept, my daily routine at the moment is waking up, praying, doing some exercise, having breakfast, checking any email correspondences, having a meeting with my national director regarding the appointments for the day, have interviews during the day and make social evening appearances in the evenings. In between all of this, I have still got to continue practicing my speech and beauty queen walk and social etiquette.
How do you feel about travelling to South Africa?
I feel excited and looking forward to meeting all of the contestants from different parts of the regions. I have always wanted to go to South Africa so this is a wonderful opportunity for me.
Which elements of Miss World are you most looking forward to?
I am looking forward to the final, sight seeing the beauty of South Africa and of course meeting all of the contestants and all of the various aspect of training routine.
Do you have a message to the other Miss World contestants?
You need to work hard and believe in yourself. I have been written off twice and each time I have come and won, you need to be hardworking and determined. Although this is a competition, you also want to leave the Miss World competition with new friends. This is a once in a lifetime chance so do cease the chance and be greatful for the once in a lifetime opportunity presented to you.
What do you think are you qualities that youwill bring to the competition?
My welcoming, friendly and vibrant personality, my confidence, my warm nature and the determination and drive and above all my willingness to always learn.
What individual talents will seperate you from the other contestants?
Writing and reading poems
What would it mean to you to do well at Miss World?
It would mean the world to me to do well at the Miss World, I am the ambassador for my country I hope to promote our Ugandan Beauty, Culture, and Heritage and fly the Ugandan flag high. Above all I would like to take the opportunity to raise the profile of my supported children’s charity for war torn Northern parts of Uganda.
What is your favourite landmark?
The look of the snow peaked Mount Rwenzori, Uganda
What is the one thing you cannot live without?
My mum | ||
Who do you most admire? | ||
The late Mother Theresa because she has done so much for the underprivileged children around the world, giving them her love and support unselfishly.
Who has inspired you most in your life?
It has been Oprah Windfrey because she has consistently done tremendous work for the underprivileged children in Africa, she has opened a book club to inspire the illiterate to get reading and writing, she has also supported and fought for justice and has an orphanage for children in Africa. Recently, the first African female president has definitely inspired me; Ellen Johnson Sirleaf of Liberia. It certainly shows that Africa is beginning to respect our women. I look forward to seeing many more African countries taking the lead and giving our women a chance. An African woman is no longer going to be perceived as a woman who only needs to stay home and bear children but who has the determination and the will to make a difference. I look forward to seeing my country Uganda follow the lead in supporting women to take part in matters that affect our country. |
